Miso-Marinated BBQ Pork Flank Steak
Ingredients
Sesame ginger crunchy vegetable salad
Dressing
Preparation
On the stove
- Using the tip of a knife, lightly score meat in a diamond pattern on both sides and place in a resealable bag with marinade.
- Remove air from bag and knead meat to thoroughly coat in marinade. Marinate in the refrigerator for 4–8 hours.
- Remove flank steak from bag, soaking up any excess marinade with a paper towel.
- Let stand at room temperature for 5–10 minutes.
- In a large skillet set over medium-low heat, cook meat in 2 tbsp. olive oil for 2–4 minutes on each side.
- Be careful not to overcook to keep meat tender—can be easily cooked in a BBQ on high heat.
- Remove from heat, cover with foil and let stand 5 minutes before serving.
- Serve with cucumber and crunchy vegetable salad and udon or soba noodles.
Sesame ginger crunchy vegetable salad
- Add all vegetables to a bowl except cucumbers.
- Slice cucumbers just before serving to keep them crisp.
- For some extra spice, add chili hot sauce.
- Place all dressing ingredients in a blender. Pulse until smooth.
- Add dressing to taste and remaining sesame seeds, then toss.
- Any leftover dressing can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
